The Global Methodist Church, Governance, & Lay Leadership
Madison Methodist Church is proudly part of the worldwide movement of the Global Methodist Church, which began in May 2022. Shortly after, in August 2023, Madison Methodist Church was established. MMC was established because a strong biblical focus is needed now more than ever in an ever-changing world. With a hope to re-ignite a Biblically focused Methodist Movement in Madison, Georgia, and Morgan County, a group of laypeople began to gather, pray, and ask God to guide them. Of course, the Bible is the only book we all truly need to discover the truth of Jesus Christ. It serves as the foundation for our church’s mission, teachings, and community life in our discipleship of Jesus Christ.
The secondary resource Madison Methodist Church uses to evaluate the congregation's theology, doctrine, and governance is the Book of Doctrines & Disciplines of the GMC. This book helps clarify what we believe, stand for, and how Global Methodists engage in congregational life, mission, and governance. The primary board responsible for governance at MMC, known as the Charge Conference, is called the Administrative Board. This board is composed of lay members, including chairpersons from various ministry committees, who serve the congregation in specific areas such as mission and care. The Administrative Board typically meets once a month throughout the year, although its frequency may vary depending on the congregation's needs.
